Block Molding Expandable Polystyrenes Address a Broad Range of Rigid Board Insulation Requirements

Block molding

M-500 Modified EPS offers fast expansion rates, low density potential and excellent yields in conversion from beads to rigid foam insulation billets.

M-590 Modified EPS is an excellent product for molding parts where there is a demand that the molded part be made of modified material. Its fast cycle makes it attractive for molding and/or billets of all sizes and thickness. The virgin beads have a bulk density of approximately 38 to 42 lb/ft3 (pcf) and contain pentane, a hydrocarbon blowing agent. They also contain a flame-retardant additive.

Advanced StyroChem Technology permits close control of M-500 and M-590 bead size, resulting in pre-expanded beads of exceptional uniformity and density. This helps control costs and maintains the quality and consistency of the finished board. At high-altitude locations in areas of lower air pressure, StyroChem MA-500 offers expansion characteristics that make it particularly effective. These, plus larger bead size, are the principle advantages from StyroChem MA-500 fast-cycle resin.
